Alex Chamberlain grew up in Northern New York State and received a BA from St. Lawrence University and a MDiv from Princeton Theological Seminary.  He is an ordained Presbyterian minister who served congregations in Wyoming and New Zealand before making the change to hospital chaplain.  Board certified as a chaplain since 1991 he served in a variety of clinical settings while also being active on ethics committees as a clergy representative.   His growing interest in medical ethics led to receiving a MA in Bioethics and Health Policy from Loyola Chicago, and has been working as an ethicist leader at St. Luke's since 2013.

His wife is a ballet instructor, and they have three children.  Two of these children are RNs, one serving in an ER and the other in the CVOR.  Their third child heard many graphic dinner table conversations from Alex and the nurse siblings, and rather than embrace a career that involved bodily fluids she is finishing up a PhD in American History.

Michelle Anderson is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Idaho State University in the School of Nursing Graduate program. She is a Family Nurse Practitioner for the past 19 years, having practiced in rural and urban settings. She has owned and operated her own NP clinic in rural Idaho for the last 12 years prior to transitioning to education.

Dr. Anderson has received professional awards for her service through recognition in her community as a top healthcare provider, state recognition with a preceptor of the year award, and national recognition through AANP for Clinical Excellence in 2013 and Advocacy in 2018.  She was awarded Fellowship through AANP in 2019.Dr. Anderson resides in Meridian, Idaho and enjoys spending time with her family and staying active in the community.

Susan Tavernier, PhD, APRN-CNS, AOCN

Susan Tavernier is an Associate Professor and the Director for Graduate Studies at Idaho State University School of Nursing. She is a Clinical Nurse Specialist with over 30 years’ experience in adult oncology.  Her funded research is varied; quality of life, interprofessional education in palliative care, patient-provider communication, distress management, psychometric analyses and biologic biomarkers.

Dr. Tavernier received awards for outstanding mentorship, achievement in research and publication. She is actively involved in the Oncology Nurses of Southern Idaho Chapter of ONS and area hospital nursing research and evidence-based practice projects.

Carrie Lamb earned her BSN from University of West Florida in 2006 and began practicing as a medical-surgical nurse in Oregon. After gaining experience in multiple clinical settings, (medical, surgical, cardiac, perinatal and pediatric) she obtained her dual graduate degree in adult health Clinical Nurse Specialist and Nurse Education. After completing her DNP in Advanced Practice Nurse Leadership at Chamberlain University, Lamb moved to Idaho where she has most recently served as the Director of Acute Nursing Practice, in the Center for Nursing Excellence, at St. Luke's Health System. Recently, Dr. Lamb was appointed to represent District 4 on the Nurse Leaders of Idaho board of directors and is now the Assistant Dean of Nursing at Eagle Gate College in Boise.

Wendy Ferguson is a full-time registered nurse with Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene. She works in Trauma Services as the Injury Prevention Coordinator and as a PACU nurse with surgical services.

She is active in many of Kootenai Health’s programs and committees including the Research and Evidence-Based Practice committee, Kootenai Foundation committee, Magnet programs and chairs the Injury Prevention Coalition Committee.

Wendy earned her BSN from California State University Bakersfield in 2011 where she specialized in emergency and trauma care.  She previously worked as a CNA, Ski Patroller, Wilderness First Responder and whitewater rafting guide in the Grand Canyon.

Wendy’s passion for patient care, best patient practice and sharing of knowledge with other RN’s is exemplified in her work and projects.

She currently lives in Hayden, Idaho with her husband and two school aged children and enjoys volunteering in her community, mountain-biking, rafting, snowboarding and sleep on her days off.

Brad Bigford was born in Seattle WA but his mother wanted to move back to her hometown of Troy, Idaho when he was 15. He graduated from Troy High School with a graduating class of 28. Brad  moved to Boise in 2002 and graduated from Boise State University with his ASN then his BSN. He has worked as a nurse in orthopedics, telemetry and PACU in both St Luke’s & St Als. This is where he met his wife, Nancy, also a nurse. Together they have 2 children. After 7 years as a RN, Brad went onto obtain his Masters from Gonzaga University in their Family Nurse Practitioner program.

Brad has worked in family practice & urgent care, and for the past 6 years he has worked in corrections in a county jail setting. Brad is certified correctional healthcare  from the National Commission on Correctional Healthcare. In 2016, he started the Treasure Valley’s only nurse practitioner owned and operated house call urgent care practice, Table Rock Mobile Medicine.

He enjoys working 6 days a week, year -round. He doesn’t like traveling, spending time with his family or doing anything outdoors like everyone else. You can catch him in his spare time on Xbox Live or watching reruns of The Office.

Richard Clews earned his MSN as an Adult Nurse Practitioner with a focus in Cardiovascular disease management from Vanderbilt University School of Nursing in 2012 and then practiced initially at the University of Colorado as a outpatient general NP. Shortly thereafter in 2014 he did a 1-year Hospitalist Fellowship as Faculty at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus with rotations in Medical Oncology, General Hospital Medicine Service, Emergency Room and Cardiology. He completed his Post Masters AGACNP at the University of Colorado School of Nursing during his Fellowship and became Board Certified through the ANCC. He then practiced as an Advanced Practice Provider in Structural Heart Disease and General Cardiology in the inpatient and outpatient settings at Michigan Heart and Vascular Institute in Ann Arbor, MI until relocating with his family to Boise and has practiced at St Luke's Cardiology ever since.

Anna Quon, MBA HM, BSN, RN, RN-BC, is a Clinical Specialist at the Nursing & Patient Care Center of Excellence at St. Luke’s Health System. As a board-certified Ambulatory Care Nurse, she serves as a subject matter expert and consultant on evidence-based practice, shared governance, and policy and protocol development, with a focus on the system’s 300+ clinics. She has a passion for professional development, is actively engaged in various professional organizations, and serves as a formal mentor for the American Nurses Association Mentorship Program. In 2018, she received the Outstanding Nurse Leader - Transitions in Care Award from Nurse Leaders of Idaho. In 2020-2021, she will be a Nursing Research Fellow and Principal Investigator for a Delphi study on ED nurses and their experience with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Heidi Hamlin, RN, BSN, is a Program Manager for Occupational Health/Employee Health at St. Luke’s Health System. Heidi is passionate about coaching and supporting staff to effectively serve the employee population using current evidence-based standards and established practices.  Heidi identifies processes and workflows that need improvement and drives efficient operations for the department.   She is the subject matter expert on respiratory protection in Occupational Health and has engaged in Shared Governance, Joint Commission readiness, and many workgroups to evaluate and improve practices.  Prior to her current role she served as the Clinical Educator and a preceptor for her department.

Dr. Swanson received her BSN from Creighton University, her Master of Nursing in Population Health from Boise State University, and her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Healthcare System Leadership from Chamberlain University. Dr. Swanson’s clinical experience has been focused on newborn intensive care and pediatrics in community, and urban settings. She is certified as a Nurse Leader Executive by ANCC. She is currently the Program Manager for the PATHS program at St. Luke’s Health System. Dr. Swanson is an expert in evidence-based practice and enjoys teaching and coaching nurses and clinicians in utilizing the EBP model to improve patient and staff outcomes. Melissa Quaid, BSN, RN, Magnet Program & Professional Governance Coordinator is a full-time registered nurse at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She joined Kootenai in 2011, working on their cardiac step-down unit for four years, then transitioning to the ambulatory setting and working at Kootenai Heart Clinics for the next 4 years. She accepted the Magnet Program Coordinator position in early 2019, a position which she has grown to also include Professional Governance Coordinator. Her success in this role is evidenced by recent accreditation with the Forum for Shared Governance, and Kootenai Health is in the final stages of document preparation for Magnet re-designation in February 2021.

Melissa’s passion for doing the right thing for the right reasons is demonstrated in all of her endeavors. She continuously challenges Kootenai’s clinical nurses to own their practice and contribute to the profession of nursing.

 Gabrielle Davis (she/her) is a respiratory therapist at St. Luke's Health System in Boise. There, she serves as the COPD Educator and the Inpatient Nicotine Treatment Program Coordinator. Gabby is also a licensed professional counselor and owner of Equitable Counseling & Consulting, LLC. Currently Ave serves as the president of the Idaho Association of LGBT Issues  in Counseling and is the chair of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee for the American Association of Respiratory Care. Gabby is the adult facilitator for a local LGBTQIA+ youth social and support  group in Boise where she gets to be constantly reminded why kids are better than adults. In her free time, she enjoys reminding health care professionals that nicotine addiction is a disease versus a choice, dispelling myths about the definition of allyship and encouraging folks to say I don't know instead of pretending to know.

Among her accomplishments, she was selected to speak at a pediatric trauma conference on pediatric neuro emergencies, participated as faculty at a neurosurgical hands-on cadaver course, and was part of a group abstract presentation which was accepted on the prenatal in-utero repair results in the practice she worked for. She currently works as a practical nurse instructor at Eagle Gate College, and she is attending the University of Missouri- Kansas City to obtain her DNP specializing in pediatrics.
